Chamber Groups will be formed toward the end of second semester. Small groups of band members (typically 4-20) come together after school, rehearse and are exposed to various classical pieces appropriate for smaller groups vs. the large ensemble. The uniform is decided by the director and the individual groups.
There is currently no fee for this group. Parents may be asked to contribute refreshments for socials following concerts. Some concerts may take place at Rampart while other venues may be arranged. Watch the calendar for details.
Chamber music is a form of classical music, written for a small group of instruments, which traditionally could be accommodated in a palace chamber. Most broadly, it includes any "art music" that is performed by a small number of performers with one performer to a part. The word "chamber" signifies that the music can be performed in a small room, often in a private salon with an intimate atmosphere. However, it usually does not include, by definition, solo instrument performances.
