A Program of Excellence

The Rampart Instrumental Music (RIM) program has built a standing tradition of excellence. Our students develop a tremendous work ethic in order to carry on that tradition with each new school year. The RIM program continues to move in new directions in music-making. We look back on the past with respect, and we reach for the future with new goals and determination.

As it should be, our student’s greatest musical growth and experiences come from the core of the RIM program; the concert bands (4 classes), jazz ensembles (2 classes), percussion techniques class, and the string orchestra class.  Each class requires a year-long commitment of great music-making. We believe in teaching our students to play well, to develop listening skills and sensitivity, to express themselves in music, but most importantly to be respectful, hard-working members of a “team” persevering together toward goals that we cannot reach alone.

There are also several after school ensembles Regiment Marching Band, Winter Guard, Winter Percussion plus master classes are offered for specific instruments through the year.  Students are encouraged to participate in numerous Honor Bands and Solo & Ensemble competition.

Academy District No. 20 and Rampart High School annual budgets are insufficient to meet many of the critical needs of the Rampart High School Band Program.  Ninety five (95) percent of the budget must be made up through fees and fund raisers.  The more we can raise funds together the less the fees will be for all students.  Each student and student family is asked to participate as fully as possible to ensure the success of each of these efforts.  We need every family to actively participate in our fund raising efforts.

No high school band program is complete without an active and highly energized Band Boosters Organization.  Rampart’s Band Boosters are the parents of our band students.  Activities include fund raising for band equipment and activities, providing refreshments after football half-time shows, chaperoning band members on trips to competitions, assisting with the movement of band equipment before and after performances, helping with uniform adjustments and makeup requirements before band shows, repairing band equipment when needs exist, and attending to the 1,001 other details that make the Rampart Band Program so outstanding. The RHS Band Boosters Organization is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.  All donations made to the Band Boosters are tax-deductible.
