WIND ENSEMBLE

Grades: 10-12
Prerequisite: Previous band course work and audition.
Length of Course: 1 year
Fees: Enrichment Fee - $45/year collected at check-in. Method book purchase required. Instrument rental fee $50/semester for school-owned instruments (this includes all percussion participants). See the payment envelope under FORMS for instructions on paying these fees.

This small ensemble course is open to a limited number of students with advanced musical skills, as determined by comprehensive audition. Program of study focuses on rehearsal and performance of advanced band literature with emphasis on broad exposure to musical terminology, detailed examination of performance techniques and styles, mastery of complex rhythmic concepts, and enhancement of characteristic tone and performance capabilities on the student’s individual instrument. The Wind Ensemble participates in public programs, school assemblies, music concerts, festivals, and large and small ensemble contests during the course of the academic year. This course may be taken for an art or elective credit.
