SYMPHONIC BAND

Grades: 10-12
Prerequisite: Previous band course work and audition.
Length of Course: 1 year
Fees: Enrichment Fee - $45/year collected at check-in. Method book purchase required. Instrument rental fee $50/semester for school-owned instruments (this includes all percussion participants). See the payment envelope under FORMS for instructions on paying these fees.

This course is open to students with intermediate/advanced musical skills, as determined by comprehensive audition. Program of study emphasizes enhancement of individual and section playing skills, improvement of accuracy in executing rhythmic figures in simple and compound meters, expanding understanding of performance styles and techniques, and advancement in production of characteristic tone and performance capabilities on the student’s individual instrument. The Symphonic Band participates in school assemblies, music concerts, festivals, and large and small ensemble contests during the course of the academic year. This course may be taken for an art or elective credit.
